An Introduction to District Projects

The District has been involved in many different types of projects over the years. Originally, we helped farmers with soil conservation techniques. While we continue to provide assistance for farmers to install conservation projects, we are now involved in many facets of resource conservation

Kathy Doyle giving a tour

Recently we have planted thousands of trees along streambanks and helped local towns with road runoff collection projects. We are currently working with our partners at Vermont DEC to install rain gardens in urban areas as stormwater abatement measures.

We are also working with UVM SeaGrant to provide education and outreach to lakefront property landowners through the Lake Education and Action Program (LEAP). In addition, we continue to work with The Nature Conservancy to provide native trees for restoration projects.

We strive to use the assessment data that we collect to implement well-designed projects that address the water quality issues observed in our watershed.

For information on our current projects please explore the project links to the left.
